the 52 project: week 42/52 (apple picking!)

pennsylvania apple picking from www.blog.cleanlinestudio.com It’s been so long since I’ve posted an Eva portrait, I even had to visit Jodi’s blog to see what week we’re on. The truth is, I haven’t been taking as many photos lately. It’s hard to find the time during the week, and sometimes I just don’t think the bring the camera when we’re out and about over the weekend. But, apple picking is different. It’s the one family tradition we’ve had since Eva’s first apple picking trip as a 4 month old babe. You’ll see a whole bunch of good old fashioned Pennsylvania apple picking after the jump, and if you’d like to see apple picking photos since the dawn of this tradition you can do so right here!

desktop decor: foiled leaf rubbings!

fall desktop wallpaper free from www.blog.cleanlinestudio.com
Hello Friday friends! My sincerest apologies for how long it’s been since I’ve done a desktop decor post. I hope this one makes up for lost time. I’ve been wanting to incorporate more hand-done techniques into my work, both on the blog and off. I think this desktop wallpaper fulfills that desire (at least for today). Yesterday, Eva and I went out on a “leaf walk.” We visited our neighborhood park, collected the loveliest shapes and colors, and then brought them home to make leaf rubbings. Do you remember doing that as a kid? After our craft project was done, I collected up the best ones to make you this wallpaper today (I may have added a little graphic design magic once I got them to the studio).  So, you can think of this desktop wallpaper as a mother/daughter project! Hope you like it! Download this one, of a teal and silver version after the jump…

best sandwich, cutest bakery

back in the day bakery
As you may know, a few weeks ago Sean and I took a lil’ road trip to Savannah, GA. It’s where we went to college together, where we fell in love, where we had our first home together, and where we shared our first jabon buerre sandwich. I am only a little bit kidding when I tell you that I would have made the 12 hour drive for that sandwich alone. It’s that good, truly. On our last day in Savannah, we drove to Back In The Day Bakery to relive the magic. Not only do they make delicious sandwiches, red velvet cupcakes, crusty bread and lavender shortbread cookie icing confections, the bakery itself is breathtakingly adorable. Have a look around, and if you’re ever in Savannah, GO THERE (you can thank me then)!

Hey Friends, I’m back! It feels sort of nice to ease back into work on a Friday, knowing that I’ll be picking Eva up from school and celebrating the weekend in the blink of an eye. With school becoming such a key part of my (and eva’s) morning routine, I decided to ask our lovely sponsors how their routines compare. All of their answers are after the jump. Have a great weekend!

the prettiest lunch boxes on earth

lulie wallace lunchboxes

Hey guys! With the beginning of the school year right around the corner (or already started for some), I wanted to share an amazing back to school product with you. I use my lulie wallace lunchbox almost daily. Eva has been asking for her own when school starts, and I am happy to oblige.

Not only are they beautiful, but they also support a good cause. Lulie partners with a charity called backpack buddies, to benefit “food-insecure homes” in the Charleston, SC area. For every beautiful lunchbox you purchase, you’re also buying a meal for a child who really needs it. I just love that! Have a nice weekend!

August Sponsor Spotlight!

August Sponsor Spotlight!

Good morning, darlings! Happy Friday! This week has been a bit of a blur for me, I can’t believe the first week of August is winding down! Today I’m catching up with some of our sponsors, and asking them about their goals for the rest of the summer. I find their answers both interesting and motivating. These ladies are some serious movers and shakers, and I’m excited to see all of their goals become a reality. I feel lucky to be surrounded by such ambition, and wish these gals the best in work and life. You can read them all after the jump!

color me monday: persimmon, pink and azure

color me monday: persimmon, pink and azure

Hey guys. Happy Monday! Mine’s been off to a bit of a lame and frustrating start, I hope yours has been better. This past weekend was one of no plans, that somehow whizzed by in an instant. Saturday afternoon we did a little volunteer work over at Eva’s school. Sunday we took a quick trip to the art museum for “pay what you wish” first Sunday, and attended the 2nd street festival. Eva had a few firsts, including cheese curds and dancing in the street. All in all, a good one.

This week’s color palette is semi-transitional. I’m a summer lover through and through, but the temperatures lately have made the approach of autumn hard to ignore. I’m really loving this persimmon color right now. Its bright and cheerful, works for either season, and reminds me of one of my best buddies (you know who you are, hey girl). Hope you have a great week!

change can be good

change can be good from www.blog.cleanlinestudio.com

I honestly can’t even believe I am typing this right now. I hate to admit it, but I’ve been feeling pretty fantastic lately. I believe the main reason (and the part that induces eye rolling) is my new morning exercise routine. I am not a morning person. I never have been, don’t think I ever will be. But, despite my better judgement, Sean and I have been getting up at 6:30 AM on weekdays to exercise. We’ve been using an online service called daily burn to complete a short workout in the morning, and a longer, more intense one in the evening. I thought that waking an hour earlier would leave me feeling exhausted, but it has had quite the opposite effect. I have more energy, better focus, and a sense of accomplishment every morning. It’s a great way to start the day, and I’m already seeing some results in my arms and abdominals. I’ve been really impressed with daily burn. So far, this is the only at-home workout I’ve tried that is as difficult as an in-person class. Is there something you’ve been meaning to do for yourself but haven’t?

PS: My body does not look like that chicks, and I can’t do that balance pose just yet, but soon enough my friends! Have a nice weekend!
