color me monday: papaya, sky and berry

Summer, it’s officially here! While my swollen ankles and general pregnancy heat intolerance are getting in the way a bit, but summer is still my favorite season. School’s out, the neighborhood pool opens this week, and everything in my garden is starting to bloom. We’re trying to enjoy these last two months with Eva before the new guy shows up. Our weekend was relatively low-key. Yesterday Eva and I made a special breakfast for her Dada, played with the sprinkler in the backyard, and ended the day with smores. It was nice to chill out after several busy weeks and weekends in a row.

With the start of summer comes bright, fun colors! I love how these fit together for the hottest months ahead. I hope you are staying cool and having a nice week so far!

color me monday: citrus and marsala

color inspiration, pantone color of the year marsala, marsala and citrus, color palette, color board, color inspiration, color palette citrus and marsala

Hi there, happy Monday! I hope you had a nice weekend, and your week is off to a good start. Sean’s birthday was yesterday, so my in-laws flew in to spend the weekend with us. We stayed relatively close to home, enjoying some fresh air at Greensgrow, a little shopping in center city, and a lot of yummy meals out. Unfortunately, the weekend ended with a bit of a medical scare that put baby and I in the hospital, with the birthday guy by our side. I don’t know if I’ve ever mentioned on here that I have type 1 diabetes and have since I was 8 years old, but I do, and it was causing some problems for me. We’re all fine now, baby is good, and I’m mostly recovered too. I’m just hoping to spend the rest of the week celebrating my wonderful husband, he couldn’t possibly be any more deserving of some special treatment.

Anywho, on that note, colors! I love that top left citrus image, and thought that with citrus season coming to an end, I bet hurry up and find a way to use it. I think the brighter citrusy tones work really well with the deeper, moody marsala hue…and who am I to argue with Pantone?

Have a nice week, and don’t forget to enter to with TWO gorgeous handmade pillows from Bonnie Kaye Studio. The giveaway ends this coming Saturday! If you can’t wait until then to shop the BKS product line, you can use the code CLEANLINEGIVEAWAY for 20% off of your purchase!

color me monday: ruby, mint, and soft lilac

ruby, mint, lilac color palette, color palette, mood board, color story

Hello lovelies. I hope you all had a nice holiday weekend, regardless of what holiday you were celebrating. We spent quite a bit of time outside which felt awesome! On Saturday we did a little work in the garden and picked up 20,000 bees. Yes, you read that correctly. Sean’s been wanting to set up a honey bee hive, so we had to collect our (well packaged) colony that were driven up all the way from Georgia. Sunday was spent eating way too much bunny-shaped chocolate, and getting the bees cozy in their new home.

I’m always a fan of mixing muted colors with a pop of deep, saturated color. I feel like I’ve never seen a color palette quite like this one, but truthfully that’s always my goal! Have a nice week, and be sure to stop back in on Wednesday for a fun giveaway!

color me monday: citrine, grey, and bubblegum pink

color me monday, mustard and pink, spring colors, spring color palette, color palette inspiration, inspiration, color, mood board, color board

Hello friends, it’s been a while! Last week I was super sick and crummy, and just couldn’t possible put together a worthwhile blog post for you. Now I’m back, it’s officially spring, and I’m ready to rock. It was a pretty quiet weekend around here. Eva went to my parent’s house on Friday, and we met her there on Saturday afternoon. It was still pretty cold so minus a Sunday morning walk in the woods, we were inside huddled by the fireplace most of the weekend.

Despite the way it feels, I’m ready to think spring. I like the juxtaposition of this girly pink against the darker, gender-neutral citrine color. I hope you have a nice week!

color me monday: indigo, jade and citrine

color me monday: indigo, jade and citrine

Happy Monday! I hope your weekend was lovely. Ours was good, although not at all what we had planned. My in-laws were supposed to fly in for a quick visit on their way to DC, but a last minute snowstorm put a stop to that. Eva’s school was closed and Sean had already taken the day off of work, so we decided to make the best of our three day weekend. Friday we joined some friends at the Franklin Institute, Saturday I went to my ceramics class and then our little family explored a local flea market and fabric row. Sunday was relatively quiet and an hour shorter, but some dear friends popped by in the afternoon for tea and a dance party.

Three cheers for the bright green promise of spring! There’s really nothing like it. You still have to look hard to find it, but just yesterday I saw tiny green shoots coming up in my window boxes. I threw in the indigo and jade for good measure. Have an awesome, warm week, folks!

Hey friends, I hope you had a nice weekend! Ours was fairly uneventful, for which I am grateful. Saturday morning I had my pottery class, Sunday we did some grocery shopping and dinner out with friends. The week got off to a weird start with a little ice storm overnight and a two hour delay from school this morning. But, Eva and I made the best of it with a leisurely breakfast of bacon and eggs and even time for some morning snuggles!

While the weather here shows no real sign of spring, I’m beginning to sense it right around the corner. I like this muted pastel combo for today. It feels just right for this time of year; cold and blue with a touch of springtime anticipation. Have a nice week!

color me monday: creamsicle, mint and coral red

Hey Guys! I hope you are doing well and had a nice weekend. The snowy Saturday afternoon weather put a damper on all of our plans for the weekend, although I did make it to my pottery class without a hitch. Sunday I woke up feeling grumpy and disappointed about missing out on fun times with friends, but then I went outside! It’s amazing how heavenly 40 degree weather feels after a week of single digits. The sunshine cheered me right up, and out little family spend the rest of the day eating delicious Paesano’s sandwiches and running errands (certain little girls were even coatless).

As you probably know by now, mint is among my most very favorite colors, so any palette with mint in it is just magic to me. I like how this has a really soft springtime feel to it, and then that coral red just gives it some pow! Hope you have a nice week, and be sure to check back on Wednesday for a HUGE announcement!

color me monday: emerald and peach

Buddies, hi! I hope your Monday is off to a nice start. I’m allowing myself to take a bit of a break today after the calligraphy workshops this weekend. Everything went really well, and I am officially tired. Like most things, this second time around was far less stressful. Don’t get me wrong, it was still plenty of work, but I had faith that it would all come together…and it did. I’m already getting emails from people who couldn’t make it to this series, so perhaps they’ll be another series in the future. Eva spent the weekend with her Nana so that Sean could help out. I was so glad to see her yesterday afternoon, and eat heart-shaped cookie leftovers with my little family.

I think this week’s palette is cool, and not just for weddings! I like how the bold emerald looks against the softer peachy tone. That stokholm street style chick top left is seriously rockin’ it in this color combo.

A few other quick notes: Don’ forget to enter the wax seal giveaway! It ends this Wednesday! It’s open to readers anywhere in the world, and we’ll be giving away not one but THREE sets of wax seal and sealing wax! You can choose any color wax you like, and either your own custom seal design, or from the dozens of adorable options in the backtozero shop! Today I’m also featured over on Melanie’s Craft’s blog. She asked me a series of interview questions about life and owning a small business. Be sure to check it out, and have a nice week!

color me monday: white out

color me monday: white out

Hey guys, happy monday! I woke up this morning feeling kind of annoyed that the much anticipated snow in Pennsylvania was going to slow down my productivity this week. The school district of Philadelphia has an early dismissal today and almost certain snow day tomorrow, which means Eva’s preschool is closed too. But, then my little girl woke up this morning radiating snow day excitement. We made oatmeal together in our bathrobes while Eva spoke with great anticipation of the snowman we’ll make later today. As I sit here (still in my bathrobe to be perfectly honest), her enthusiasm makes it difficult to feel anything but excited about the looming storm. For the next 2 days we’ll be home sipping hot cocoa, reading books, watching movies, building snowmen, and enjoying every moment of it. If you are somewhere snowy, I hope you’re staying safe and warm, and have a moment to enjoy the world coated in white stuff.

I’ll be back on Wednesday with a super fantastic awesome giveaway. See you then!

color me monday: shades of grey and pale coral

color-me-monday_shades-of-grey-and-pale-coral, color, color inspiration, color palette, grey and coral, gray and coral, coral and grey color scheme, mood board, color board, gray and coral

Hello friends, I hope you had a nice weekend! We went to my parents’ house and spent most of the weekend lounging near their cozy fireplace, just about as close to hibernation as a human family can get. We had Sunday brunch with friends and Eva went out for a pony ride with her Nana, but I only ventured into the cold when absolutely necessary.

This color palette is inspired by the layered greys of winter, but I really like how the touches of cyan and pale coral give the grey palette new dimension. I think there’s something terribly chic about that top right image, she made me fall in love with this color palette. Have a lovely week!
